Hello, I briefly touched on this in the chat today, but wanted to touch base here as well. As some of you have noticed, the cover photo for Beggars has been switched out. We thought we had our bases covered, some other legal stuff came up, and with the album leak and the subsequent push of the release dates, we couldn’t wait on the clearances and had to move onto a different photo that we have the proper clearance on. We were really excited about the original photo, as we thought it spoke a lot and fit the vibe of the record, but we are just as excited about this new one. It’s got a different tone to it than the other, and perhaps is a bit more subtle. Plus it’s a really beautiful image.
As for the digital release being different than either two. We had to submit the art/music during the time when we were scrambling about the unforeseen legal issues, and therefore had to go with the bars.
Thanks again to everyone who participated in the chat this afternoon, and a huge thank you to everyone who’s shown their support today and bought the album. It was number one on iTunes for a short while this morning, and has been number two all day. Pretty insane. The support everyone has showed us is very encouraging and actually very humbling. We’re blessed to have such loyal listeners. Cheers everyone. Teppei

Live Shows
AOL’s Spinner.com has posted their exclusive live performance from Mastodon. The 3 song live set was filmed on February 5 at AOL’s NYC headquarters as part of “The Interface” series. While the band was there, they passed through the offices of Noisecreep.com, AOL’s new metal site, and showed off all of their tattoos and gave a little insight on the inspiration behind them.
Mastodon will be releasing their 4th album, Crack the Skye, on March 24th.

Much has been said in the past about the amazing live shows DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN puts on, but I had not yet witnessed it. At Blender Theater on Sunday night, December 16th, I was illuminated, in more ways than one.
Footage from an old silent film was shown of a woman being hypnotized leading into the seemingly sudden burst of energy that was 4 of the 5 members of the band exploding on to the stage performing “Panasonic Youth” as if they were shot out of a cannon. There were many things to keep your heart racing – flailing limbs, swinging guitars, stage diving, dizzying lights, constant movement – but the best heart stopper was the heavy, complex, high-energy music.
“43% Burnt” had an added ‘touch’ that night – a random tall man dressed like a skeleton danced across the stage, then stripped down to a Borat-style deep V green thong and made his way off the stage, leaving everyone with their jaws on the jam-packed floor. Needless to say, he was not part of the act but a fan that had found his way on stage.
Songs from the band’s new album, Ire Works, were performed along with classic DEP tracks. Ex-vocalist, Dimitri Minakakis, came on stage to perform a track he guests on from the new record called “Fix Your Face.” Other new tracks “Nong Eye Gong” and “Milk Lizard” paced old school favorites “When Good Dogs Do Bad Things,” “Mullet Burden”, and “Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants.” Bob Meadows from openers, A LIFE ONCE LOST, joined the band on the closer “Sunshine The Werewolf.”
Dillinger vocalist, Greg Puciato, climbed way up to the top of the stage near the curtains during the set and looked like he might jump, but it was new guitarist, Jeff Tuttle, that took a header by the end of the show, jumping off the side of the stage – bloody and limping, he exited. Puciato, brought even more danger to the show breathing fire (something he is known for doing) – nearly setting the whole front row ablaze.
That stop, drop, and roll would have been that audience’s pleasure. As I was leaving, it was all summed up for me. I heard one fan tell another “I got kicked in the back when Ben dove off the stage. Sweet!”
WHO: AS I LAY DYING - Tim Lambesis (vocals), Jordan Mancino (drums), Phil Sgrosso (guitar), Nick Hipa (guitar) and Josh Gilbert (bass).
WHAT: The band are set to appear on SPREAD TV – Dave Navarro’s popular online TV talk show. The band will be interviewed and will also air live footage from their performance at the With Full Force Festival in Germany in June 2007.
WHEN: Tuesday, December 4, 2007
WHERE: http://www.maniatv.com/shows/spread-entertainment
WHY: The band recently released their album AN OCEAN BETWEEN US (Metal Blade Records) and their headline tour has been winning over fans across the U.S.
With the official retail release of their In Rainbows coming on January 1st, Radiohead have also been keeping busy with their “Thumbs Down Webcast” as of late. Thom Yorke said of the episodes, “This is Thumbs Down cause it’s … [holds thumbs down]… We’re gonna play some music as we can still stand up. This is our way of celebrating the fact that we’ve finished a record. We’re been doing some stupid stuff the past few weeks knocking some things together. Don’t expect any high quality cause there isn’t any.” Check out the band performing the first single from the album, “Bodysnatchers,” and another stand out track, “Jigsaw Falling Into Place”.
