Godsmack frontman Sully Erna served as the A&R for the soundtrack to "The Scorpion King". Erna enlisted the help of System Of A Down, Coal Chamber, Flaw, P.O.D. and more.
Shoutweb: In the video for "I Stand Alone", you become almost a Scorpion King like
character. Similarly to The Mummy films, do you ever feel like you
have lived past lives? Do you ever get deja vu or visions of past lives?
Sully: Yes! I have already had one past life regression and I have felt many times
that I have been in different places before or have known that person before knowing that I have never been there or seen that person.
Shoutweb: Can you relate to the Scorpion King character?
Sully: Yes! I am a big fan of gladiator type movies and I am a sword collector.
As far as the character goes, he is a little before my time.
Shoutweb: Did you have a clear idea of which artists you wanted to be part of the
soundtrack?
Sully: Not at first, but as I started to think about the movie and the
aggression in it I started to think about the bands that I have
acquaintences with and felt that they would be best, along with the
director Chuck Russell wanting a hard rock soundtrack!
Shoutweb: Was it a difficult selection process?
Sully: Not really, there are a good bunch of rock bands surfacing and should be
heard.
Shoutweb: What are your favorite tracks on the soundtrack?
Sully: Mine! (Laughs)
Shoutweb: Have you seen the film?
Sully: Not yet!
Shoutweb: Do you think it's something Godsmack and rock music fans will enjoy?
Sully: Absolutley!
Shoutweb: Do you have interest in working on other soundtracks in the future?
Sully: I am currently working on the soundtrack for Pauly Shore's new movie
"You'll never Weiz in this town again".
Shoutweb: What's next for Sully?
Sully: Godsmack 3. That is the next project I will do. It has to be, and will be
one badass, motherfucking, asswhipping CD that will show every rock band in
the world that not only will we take the "Rock 'n Roll belt" away from
whoever thinks they have it, but they will know that this band is here to
stay and will continue to kick a new hole in this planet!! (oh, and
besides that, I'll be changing poopy diapers!)
