Roadrunner United - The All-Star Sessions: 57 Artists, 45 Bands, 19 Tracks, 4 Team Captains
|
| 03 August 2005 |
Roadrunner
Records has put together a groundbreaking record to mark the label’s 25 th
Anniversary. The group is
called Roadrunner United and the album titled The All-Star Sessions. This full length release, in stores on October 11, 2005, is a
‘master-class’ in hard rock/metal. Boasting 57 artists from 45 of Roadrunner’s past and present bands, the album will
contain original tracks that are collaborations between numerous
Roadrunner stars.
Four central musicians
were originally chosen to produce and write the songs. Joey Jordison (Slipknot),
Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria), Robert Flynn (Machine Head) and Matthew Heafy
(Trivium). These four musicians play on the songs they have written and have
also assembled a unique team of artists to appear on each track.
In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician has
played for more than one writer/producer and each song features a
different vocalist.
In
addition to these stellar teams of musicians, there will also be special
additional tracks from ex-Roadrunner artist, Josh Silver - Type O Negative's
longtime producer / keyboardist. In
the spirit of the project, Silver has included Roadrunner artists on his tracks
as well… Opeth’s Mikael
Akerfeldt appears on the Silver-written “Roads.”
Track
names from the Jordison team include “Constitution Down” (with vocals by
Kyle Thomas of Floodgate), “Tired ‘N Lonely” (with vocals from Keith
Caputo of Life of Agony) and “Annihilation By The Hand Of God” (with vocals
from Glen Benton of Deicide) among others.
Flynn’s camp has completed
songs like “The Dagger” (with vocals from Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage)
and “The Rich Man” (with vocals from Corey Taylor of Slipknot) among others.
“The End” (with vocals from Matt Heafy of Trivium) and “The
Enemy” (with vocals from Mark Hunter of Chimaira) are some of the team-Cazares
product. And tracks from Heafy’s
sessions include “The Dawn of a Golden Age” (with vocals from Dani Filth of
Cradle of Filth), “Superheroes” (with vocals from Michale Graves of The
Misfits) and “Blood and Flames” (with vocals from Jesse Leach – ex-Killswitch
Engage singer).

New Music: From Autumn To Ashes
|
| 05 September 2003 |
Preview new albums hitting record stores on Tuesday (9/9): From Autumn To Ashes - The Fiction We LiveFrom Autumn To Ashes return with their riveting new album, The Fiction We Live. Many bands in the current rock scene make attempts at mixing a multitude of styles into their musical melting pot, but few due it with the poetry, depth and style of From Autumn To Ashes. On the single "Milligram Smile", the band moves with seamless precision between terrorizing breakdowns, tranquil verses and AFI-style choruses. "No Trivia" finds FATA taking it down a notch with one of the year's most captivating epic ballads. With "Autumns Monologue", One True Thing singer Melanie Wills returns for her follow-up collaboration to "Short Stories With Tragic Endings". From Autumn To Ashes continue to create art without boundaries, dropping an album that will satisfy fans and bring many new recruits into the band's growing fan base. Also due out 9/9:

Tour Report: NO ONE
|
| 31 July 2001 |
Shoutweb recently checked in with Murk, lead singer of the band
No One, currently on the second stage of the Ozzfest 2001 tour. The band is set to release their self titled Immortal/Virgin debut on August 14th. The band recently checked in from Ozzfest:
What’s it like playing Ozzfest?
This is definitely the best time of my life! We have been hangin’ with almost every single band on Ozzfest. Most of the time we are hangin’ with the dudes in Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Spineshank, and American Head Charge. I just met a few guys in Slipknot the other day. I didn't know what they looked like without the masks. Clown and Corey were both super cool when I met them. After most Ozzfests we go and hang out by the buses of the bands on the second stage. We call this the "Rock and Roll Parking Lot." A lot of crazy sh@t goes down here.
Most of the time the guys in Papa Roach are having an after show barbeque. I met Coby (Dick) on the second day we were on. He's definitely a cool dude! We've also met Mudvayne, Taproot, Nonpoint, Linkin Park, Crazy Town. Everyone is totally cool and they've all come down to check out our set.
Have you been checking out the other bands too?
I watch Disturbed, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Drowning Pool almost every day. Linkin Park, Papa Roach, and Hatebreed put on an excellent show as well. I have been able to watch everyone at least once on this tour. I think from 10:00 to 12:00 it’s an all around excellent show. I think it’s the best Ozzfest yet.
What’s the craziest thing happening on the Ozzfest tour?
The craziest thing I've seen so far was when I first decided to watch Slipknot. I went down right into the middle of the pit! I wanted to experience the show the way it’s meant to be experienced. It was totally intense the whole time until this one part in the middle of "Spit it Out." The band slowed down the song and Corey asked everyone in the entire Ozzfest to sit down. I couldn't believe it! After about 10 minutes of telling them, they had everyone sitting. Once they did that, they continued the song and right before it kicked in, Corey yelled "Get the F@#$ up!" and the whole place exploded. It was awesome! Aside from some of the incidents from partying after the show, that was the craziest part for me.
