Vans Warped Tour

From Autumn To Ashes

The Vans Warped Tour hit towns across the country again this summer with a line-up that had something for everyone.

Warped Tour Recap
10 July 2003

Shoutweb hit up the Warped Tour on Wednesday, July 9th, in Ventura, CA. Although it's impossible to catch every act, we caught at least 15 bands we were there to see. When you go, make sure to get there early, and don't miss Vaux and From Autumn To Ashes like we did. The standout bands included:

Avenged Sevenfold - Old school metal riffs, great live anthems and one of the most brutal pits of the day. The buzz is growing on their new album Waking The Fallen and the set included several killer new songs and staples from Sounding The Seventh Trumpet.

Yellowcard - The band that popped and created one of the biggest crowd reactions of the day was quite easily Yellowcard. With their incredibly energetic live show and back flipping violin player, the music was barely audible over the singing along from the young female skewing crowd. The new songs from Ocean Avenue sounded great.

Rancid - The always amazing Rancid rattled off their hits and reminded everyone just how important of a band they are. The new song from Indestructible sounded like vintage And Out Come The Wolves. If you watched close enough, you could even see pop singer Pink decked out in her Rancid gear.

Story Of The Year - Over at the small Ernie Ball stage, Story Of The Year played a quick energy-packed set. There were a lot of kids singing along to "Until The Day I Die". The buzz is quickly growing on those guys.

The Used - You can never go wrong with The Used. Bert McKracken was his usual cracked up self and the band's manic performance was a great highlight. Songs like "Buried Myself Alive" and "The Taste Of Ink" were highlights of the day.

Stay tuned for our complete coverage of the final date of the tour...
